(Los Angeles, CA) - The opportunity to perform in the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and Los Angeles Korean-American Musicians Association's 'Friendship and Harmony' concert on August 17. 2019 was thrilling, such an honor to be part of it.
The music was so inspiring and everyone involved was exceptionally kind and giving. I learned a lot in a relatively short period of time - for example, I really wasn't previously aware of the close ties between the Jewish and Korean communities, but we really do share so much. I also heard an expression for the first time, that "Koreans are the Jews of the East," representing a shared respect and awe for education, studying, learning, achieving and dialogue.
I cannot thank Dr. Noreen Green - our Maestra - enough for choosing me to sing the mezzo solo in Beethoven’s 9th, Ode To Joy. I must also thank Maestro Im Sang Yoon for his tireless efforts to put the quartet and chorus for the 9th together in a such a short time frame. He was truly wonderful to observe, an honor to work with him. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with him again!
